It was such a treat to have visited the yurien or lily garden in Tokorazawa, Saitama, JapanLilium or lily is a genus of herbaceousflowering plants of about 110 species.  The plant have long, stiff, upright stems, at the tips of which flowers develop.  These flowers are large and showy and can be in the shape of trumpets, bowls or bells with reflexed petals.  The flowers occur in all colors except blue and are often beautifully marked with flecks or zones of contrasting colors.

The species in genus Lilium are true lilies. Many other plants have “lily” in their common names, some of which are quite unrelated to true lilies.
